GJ Crookes Hospital held a Wellness Day event for the staff and visitors from Gamalakhe CHC and Dustan Feral Hospital on Friday, May 26 at the Scottburgh Country Club. Mr Linda Majola, acting HR Manager, welcomed everyone to the event, inviting all members present to participate in the activities.

Body Zone Scottburgh started the day off with a warm-up session doing squats, abs exercises and lots of other activities that are known to burn off fat. Everyone was happy to participate in the warm-up.

The Guest Speaker, Dr M Ragunandan (Medical Manager GJ Crookes Hospital) said that GJ Crookes Hospital usually hosts the Wellness Day event for staff, to remind them of the importance of healthy living.

They are reminded how to keep fit and also how to prevent health issues caused by not being fit. “Staff members are always urged to do something that will give them some exercise because this will help them to be efficient when they are at work,” said Dr Ragunandan. Second on the day’s activities was a fun walk, and then an egg-and-spoon race where staff members competed for medals and trophies.

Thereafter a soccer match was held where Gamalakhe CHC was placed third, GJ Crookes Hospital came second and Dunstan Farrel were the Champions of the 2017 Wellness Games. The GJ Crookes Hospital would like to thank all the sponsors who helped make this event a success.
