Umzinto Secondary School hosted a successful fundraising dinner-dance at the Umzinto Town Hall on Saturday, July 29.

The function was well attended by a cross section of members of the local community, who were treated to scrumptious meals and a fun-filled evening of entertainment.

Local band members Krish, Maya and Mark of Music Creations, brought back wonderful memories for the patrons who were treated to some sentimental, toe-tapping music. Revellers danced until late at night and at times the dance floor area was packed to capacity.

Some fortunate partygoers walked away with lovely prizes which were giveaways. Ex-pupil and successful businessman, Louis Myende of Tycoon Consulting, surprised the school by making a presentation of school uniforms for indigent children.

He stated, “I am pleased to express my gratitude to Umzinto Secondary School and its educators for putting me where I am today and this is my small way of giving back to the institution. It is the beginning of better things to come”.

Other donors who contributed to the success of the function, were Panash Office Supplies, Shamith Maharaj, Bob’s Tree Felling, Hassan Mohammed, Ramesh Rajbansi (Umzinto Tuckshop), Theo’s Fruit and Veg, Danny Govender, Logan’s Fruit and Veg, Kevin’s Hiring, Adams Discount, Kismet Hiring, Kiki, Risharlin, Checkers, Bella Mint, Halfway Toyota, Salomi Singh, Mohammed Ally, Marcus Sadhai, Rishi Rangasamy, Country Pharmacy, V Haines, Irwing 941CC (Shell Garage), Sasol Garage, Bunny Sivlal, Farasha Books (Mohammed), Hypersinghs, Moosa’s Cash and Carry, the Blue Marlin Hotel, Envirowatch Patrol Services, Yugan Naidoo and anyone else who assisted but has been inadvertently omitted.
