Dead man found with hands chopped off in Ellingham

THE BODY of an unknown man was found in a sugarcane plantation at Ellingham about a hundred metres away from the R612 Ixopo Main Road near the Umzinto Correctional Services on Wednesday, August 30 at 11:56am.

“Both the deceased’s hands had been chopped off above the wrists and he sustained an open wound to the back of his head,” said Captain Vincent Pandarum.

Police were unable to find the chopped-off hands at the scene.

Detective Warrant Officer Brian Khoza of the Umzinto SAPS Detective Service is investigating a case of murder.

He appeals to anyone who may be able to identify the deceased or has any information that may help with the investigations to contact him on 039-974-6500.
