School appeals for road repair

THE SCHOOL road leading to St Patrick’s Primary School is, like many roads in Umzinto, covered in potholes.

Motorists find it difficult to negotiate the road and this has resulted in one of the learners being injured.

Often drivers use the opposite lane in an effort to avoid the potholes, putting oncoming motorists and pedestrians in danger.

“We have made numerous appeals to Umdoni Municipality to have the potholes filled, but our pleas have not been answered. However, we remain hopeful that the municipality will respond soon.

We often try to fill the holes ourselves, but that does not last as the fill washes out when it rains. The potholes have become extremely dangerous,” said school principal, Mr Dlamini.
