Budo Karateka rake in the medals

The South Coast branch of Budo Karate-Do South Africa entered 13 karateka in the Ugu Regional Development Championships, held on June 30, and brought home 18 medals.

Gold medals were won by Yathin Dhaja (kata), Jeiel Jadwynne (kumite), Shaun Sewdath (kata), Lydia Naidoo, (kata), Rahul Pillay (kata) and newcomer Owetho Zama (kata).

Silver medals were won by Yathin Dhaja (kumite), Jeiel Jadwynne (kata), Senisha Surjoobhalee (kumite) and Marcus Mudenda (kata).

Bronze medals went to newcomer Tristan Michael (kata), Amahle Zama (kumite), Senisha Surjoobhalee (kata), Mishael Govender (kumite), Rahul Pillay (kumite), Owetho Zama (kumite) and Sizwe Zama (kata & kumite).

The youngsters now anxiously await the news of whether they have been selected for the Ugu Regional team to compete in the KZN Development Championships, later this year.
