Umdoni Council at its meeting held on Wednesday July 25 adopted a new human resources placement policy and approved an organogram that appears to be extremely bloated.
“What is the point of including posts on the organogram that is unbudgeted and unlikely to be budgeted in the future,” asked some Councillors. Councillors also queried why certain staff members with proven loyalty and who added value to the Municipality have not been placed and have instead been grouped together and categorised as “ Candidates / Employees to be considered for placement” . This uncertainty is bound to cause anxiety and stress and adversely affect staff morale. Councillors were unanimous in their view that key service delivery posts especially in Technical Services should be filled.
Inspite of reservations from opposition Councillors, Council approved the final Integrated Development Plan and the final Service Delivery Implementation Programme (SDIP) report.
