Truck hijacked in Malangeni

With Christmas around the corner incidents of hijacking and robberies seems to be occurring again and businesses should take caution. Just here in Umzinto on Friday morning, September 28 a truck belonging to a local bottle store was hijacked Malangeni. The driver was injured in the head while his passengers escaped unharmed.

“The complainant and his delivery crew were on the way to deliver beverages on Friday morning, September 28 when a White Kadett knocked into them in the Inkombo area, at Malangeni forcing them to stop. Five unknown males then proceeded to point them with firearms, taking the keys of the vehicle. The driver and crew were forced into the Kadett and left in a sugarcane plantation, while the other suspects drove off with the truck and all its load.  A carjacking case was opened at Umzinto SAPS and is being investigated by detectives at VCIU (Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit) in Port Shepstone,” said police spokesperson, Captain Mpinge.
