A family in Umzinto is still reeling in shock after being terrorised by six armed men at their home on Wednesday, October 17 at about 10.45am. The men attacked the house as one of the house occupant and the house helper were accepting a delivery of chickens. Fortunately the men escaped with nothing as one of the occupants managed to activate the alarm.
Police said a 31-year-old female and a house helper at a residence in Flower Road Umzinto were accepting a delivery of chickens when suddenly six men charged into the house.
“They forced the delivery driver as well as the two women further into the house. One male was in possession of a firearm while the others were armed with knives. All the other occupants of the house were rounded up as well and some of the victims hands were tied with tape and an older victim’s mouth was closed with tape. The suspects assaulted two of the females and demanded cash. One female victim who was hiding in another room, managed to activate the alarm causing the suspects to flee empty-handed.
