The 11th edition of the Ugu Jazz Festival to be hosted on June 24, promises mind-blowing entertainment for patrons of hardcore jazz repertoires from internationally acclaimed jazz legends and soulful afro soul music from the moderns sounds in the music fraternity.

The Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre is expected to be sold out as the Ugu Jazz Festival stage will be graced by jazz headliners such as greatest guitarist, Jimmy Dludlu, one of the country’s best male vocalists, Ringo Madlingozi and Umkhumbane Jazz Band.

This year’s music stage has also introduced South Africa’s most relevant artists in the music business which include Amanda Black, Sjava and the Swati born Sandz.

Other artists to musically indulge patrons include Zakes Bantwini, Mbuso Khoza, Naima K, Mondli Ngcobo, Thee Legacy, Afro Soul, Happy, Disebo, Brenda Mtambo, Afrosoul, 5th Season, Heels Over Heads and Tender.

On the decks will be Deejays Siyanda and Msheddys serenading jazz patrons to the lovely sounds of old school music. The Ugu Festival has introduced a new concept where an hour slot has been created to give a platform to local artists from all the local municipalities in the district to showcase themselves and entertain the masses.

This platform will be an opportunity for the local artists’ talent to be recognised and appreciated.

The Ugu Jazz Festival has gained loyal patrons and we are extremely proud to announce that our ticket prices remain cost effective.

We are offering general access at R280, Golden Circle R350 and VIP access at R1,200. We have also made provision for limited pay parking space near the venue for R150 per ticket. We urge those who have not yet bought their tickets to do so now and be part of the district’s pride and joy.

The Ugu Jazz Festival has tremendously grown over the years of this event and has permanently fixed itself in our annual calendar of events. The Ugu Jazz Festival is now one of the highly-recognised economy boosters in the district.

Through it, we have created temporary employment, given growth opportunities to young businesses and attracted business outside the boundaries of Ugu District.

This is also one of many initiatives implemented by our Municipality to fight against thee triple challenge of poverty, unemployment and inequality.

To ensure that our patrons have a pleasurable experience whilst also ensuring that nearby residents are not inconvenienced, certain roads will be closed and monitored by the Road Traffic Inspectorate, Ray Nkonyeni’s Traffic Department and the South African Police Service (SAPS) to ensure easy access and to eliminate traffic congestion on the road.

Park and ride services will be available to transport patrons from the designated parking areas to the event venue. Patrons are urged to desist from unlawful behaviour and enjoy in a responsible manner.
